After watching the movie Silver Linings Playbook I decided that I would read It and following suit I thought I might as well read Forgive me Leonard Peacock. Well, Silver Linings Playbook was a great read and in my opinion the movie does it justice.
Quick explores mental health through the two main characters Pat and Tiffany. Pat Peoples was previously a teacher who then spent time in a psychiatric unit. After his time there he believes that he and his ex wife will be together once again and this will be his silver lining. He meets Tiffany at a meal with his friend and they both train together for a dance competition. Throughout the novel we see the struggle of Pat dealing with mental health and the everyday obstacles that we face, especially with family relations.
Silver Linings Playbook was a fantastic novel that dealt with mental health showing people that you can have your happy ending/ silver lining. Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock left me feeling very different though. We see the struggle of a neglected 17 year old planning his suicide on his 18th birthday. As the reader we go through the journey of his life and we feel sad and cry with Leonard. What left me disappointed is the ending. Leonard gets no help or happy ending like Pat does and carries on living miserably.
Silver Linings Playbook offers a positive message to those who have mental health problems yet Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock is totally the opposite.
But make up you’re own opinion and let me know what you thought about the ending of Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock
